What is eBIR? What are the Available Forms?

We all love the beauty of online transactions. It’s fast, convenient, and you can accomplish all sorts of tasks without getting up your chair. Even filing your taxes is digitized through the eBIR website (https://efps.bir.gov.ph), which is the official BIR site for filing tax returns online.

But first, what is an eBIR Form?

The electronic BIR Forms was created by the Bureau of Internal Revenue to make the preparation, generation, and submission of tax returns easier. You can access it online or offline, too.

For the Offline eBIRForms Package, you can directly encode your data, validate it, and print your tax returns. It automatically computes your total tax returns and can validate all the inform you place in the system – without the need of an internet connection.

For the online eBIRForms Package, you’ll be able to file, review and submit your tax returns from your computer then receive a confirmation email from BIR.

Just keep in mind that the eBIR has system requirements for a smooth online transaction:

• Supported Operating System: Windows Vista, Windows 7
• Hard disk drive space needed: at least 100 MB free space
• RAM memory needed: Runs best on 2GB or higher
• ActiveX components via Internet Explorer version 9
• Java Run-time Environment version 1.7
• eBIRForms Package is best viewed in 1152 x 864 screen resolution.
• Internet Explorer v9
• Mozilla Firefox v16 or up
• Google Chrome v23 or up

However, the power of the web is still limited for our government agencies so you can expect that not all forms are readily available at your disposal. You can check out the full list of available online forms here:

According to BusinessMirror as of April 2019, individual ITR Form No. 1700 is still not available in eBIRForms. But other forms, all new and revised versions of the annual ITRs have been released digitally by the BIR. You can download and accomplish them online instantly.

Available eBIR Forms:

• BIR Form No. 1700 for individuals earning purely compensation income
• BIR Form No. 1701 for individuals under graduated income tax rates availing of itemized deductions including mixed income earners
• BIR Form No. 1701A for individuals earning income purely from business/profession under graduated income tax rates availing of Optional Standard Deduction or those who opted to avail of the 8% flat income tax rate
• BIR Forms No. 1702-RT/EX/MX for corporations
• Revised version of BIR Form No. 1701 (for individual ITRs)
• New BIR Form No. 1701A (for individual ITRs)

Take note that the New versions of the BIR Form No. 1701 and No. 1701A for individual ITRs are available in the eBIR Forms package v7.4.2 but you cannot pay for it online as it is not yet available in the electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS). This has to be completed manually.
